Professional (Live-In) Foster Parent
The Professional (Live-In) Foster Parent is responsible for the personal care, housing, meals, academics, recreational activities and trauma-informed care of up to 4 youth between the ages of 13-18. Foster parent(s) are live in supervisors who's goal is to provide a nurturing family-like environment within their home. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide 24-hour supervision of youth in accordance with ABDH, Department of Children and Families (DCF), and ChildNet policies. 2. Maintain a therapeutic home environment and support the physical, emotional, and educational growth of all consumers. 3. Attend all team meetings, case conferences and home reviews as scheduled.
4. Implement all behavior plans that are created for the children.
5. Attend all medical appointments and administer all prescribed medications in accordance with ABDH policy.
6. Monitor school attendance and assist all children with homework and/or school projects to ensure academic success.
7. Attend and participate in all school activities and meetings.
8. Maintain proper upkeep, routine maintenance and cleanliness of the home and its furnishings. 9. Participate in weekly clinical, staff and Child and Family Team Meetings. 10. Ensure proper care and safe handling of all agency vehicles. 11. Ensure that all seat belts are fastened and that all persons are secure in agency vehicle before driving. 12. Balance and maintain a home budget, while staying within budgetary constraints. 13. Monitor house security/alarm system. 14. Respond to crises in a manner that serves to promote physical and emotional safety and well-being. 15. Assist, substitute for, or help other staff when called upon to insure safety and continuity of coverage and care. 16. Prepare and/or coordinate all required documentation and reports in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner. 17. Be aware of, and implement all local and state requirements for the care and handling of consumers. 18. Report all issues, concerns, problems, or situations that may adversely affect the welfare of the consumers to management. 19. Perform other duties/tasks that may be assigned. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 1. 21 years old or older 2. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 3. 2 years of related experience strongly preferred 4. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with ABDH required levels of coverage for auto insurance
